Eccles 12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Rev. 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the alter the SOULS of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? 11 And white robes were given to every one of them, that they should REST yet for a little season……..

Note: Souls are lives. They are people. The soul is the real you, and the body is the covering that returns to the dust. According to Eccles 12:7, the spirit returns to God.
